Nicola and her partner Ella Baig revealed the big news in a joint Instagram post yesterday.

The post included pictures of the pair kissing and an ultrasound scan.

Katya took to her Instagram story to congratulate the happy couple, along with a picture of their scan.

In view of her 206,000 followers she penned: “They are having a baby!!! @nicolaadams @ellabaig.

“Congratulations! It is utterly beautiful!”

Nicola revealed that the couple had been trying to get pregnant for three years using IVF.

As she had frozen her eggs during her career as a businesswoman she was able to provide one for her partner with the help of a sperm donor.

Ella, who tragically suffered two miscarriages earlier on in their fertility journey, is now in her second trimester.

Nicola spoke to Vogue about her fertility journey, admitting she used to worry she could not conceive as a child due to her sexual orientation.

She said on February 17: “We decided that Ella would carry the baby, that we’d use my egg, and find a sperm donor that resembled Ella.

“The main hurdle was not knowing as much about IVF as we do now – about the tests that needed to be done and the things to look out for which can affect the pregnancy.”

Nicola was partnered with Katya on Strictly in 2020, making history as the first same-sex couple on the show.

The pair had to leave the show early however, when Katya tested positive for Covid.

A statement said the programme’s “protocols” at the time meant the pair would now self-isolate and would not be able to take part in the rest of the series.

At the time, Nicola said: “I’m absolutely devastated my Strictly journey has come to an end so soon.

“I had so much more to give and so many people to win this for! But I just want to say a huge thank you to Katya for being the best dance partner anyone could ask for.

“I’m gutted to be out of the competition but in these unprecedented times and as frustrating as it is, the Covid measures in place are to keep everyone safe, and I’m doing what I can to help.”

Katya similarly, posted on Instagram, penning: “My heart is broken.

“I’m utterly gutted this special journey had to end this way and you don’t get to give more.”

The pair came in the top half of the leaderboard with their quickstep in week one, and impressed the judges again in week two with their street/commercial routine.
