After Kylie Jenner previewed her brand-new Valentine’s Day collection for Kylie Cosmetics, fans were quick to notice that her heart-shaped lip products looked familiar. Kylie’s new collection features an eyeshadow palette, two matte lip kits, lip gloss, lip balm, a pressed powder palette, blush sticks, highlighter, and false lashes. While most people commented on how cute Kylie’s limited-edition lip gloss packaging is, some also pointed out that it resemble RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Trixie Mattel’s fan-favorite lip gloss from her beauty brand, Trixie Cosmetics.
A recent post on Kylie Cosmetics’ Instagram is filled with comments calling out the similarities between the heart-shaped lip gloss tubes. “I think Miss Mattel did it better,” one user commented. Another chimed in, saying “I call this ‘how to lose your gay customers in a single launch,'” since Trixie is a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community.

The drag performer originally launched Trixie Cosmetics in 2019, which was full of products inspired by her bright pink Barbiecore aesthetic. “When people are putting the makeup on, I want them to feel like I did when I was like five-years-old and I was like holding up a My Little Pony and smelling that plastic. I wanted people to feel that as an adult,” Trixie told Seventeen about her brand’s packaging in 2019.
In true Trixie fashion, she decided to speak up about #glossgate by posting a hilarious TikTok where she called Kylie out for using similar packaging. “Kylie I’m calling the police,” the “Moving Parts” singer captioned her post.

Kylie and her team have yet to cite their source for inspiration or comment on the situation.
