Meghan Markle's father Thomas has made a TV appearance to beg his daughter to let him meet his grandchildren as he continues to suffer from ill health.
Thomas, 79, suffered from a stroke last year, but has since claimed that the Duchess of Sussex, 42, made no effort to contact him during this time.
The once close father-daughter duo have been estranged since Thomas was involved in setting up paparazzi photos ahead of Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry, 39, in 2018.
Since that time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed two children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet, however, due to the estrangement Thomas is still yet to meet his grandchildren.
Now in an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Thomas opened up to hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid about his hopes to meet Archie and Lilibet before it's too late.
Branding his daughter as "cruel" for not letting him meet his grandchildren, Thomas added that he believes that their other grandfather, King Charles, from whom Harry and Meghan are also estranged, would likely also let to see his grandchildren.
He said: "I've done nothing wrong, there's nothing. I've been a really loving father and she knows that and there's no excuse for her to treat me this way, there's no excuse to treat the king that way as well."
Thomas then added: "I'm very upset about it as well because this is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent, not just me but to the King as well, to deny the right to see a grandchild."
Thomas also begged his daughter to "put the past behind us and allow me to see my grandkids."
In an interview with Australian TV programme 7NEWS Spotlight earlier this year, Thomas expressed his hopes of a reunion with his daughter, as he said: "I wish that we could sit down and talk.
"I wish we could work out our differences. She loved me. I’m her hero. And suddenly I was thrown out."
While Meghan previously spoke about her relationship with her father in an interview with The Cut magazine in 2022.
Speaking about the impact of toxic tabloid culture, the mother of two said: “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process'. It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”
