This Morning: Matty Lock presents vacuum segment
This Morning have taken to social media to share a heartbreaking tribute to Matty Lock, who has died at the age of 19.
Posting an image to their 2.6 million fans on Instagram, This Morning shared an image of Matty alongside the dates 2004-2023 with the following caption: “Everyone at This Morning is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matty Lock, aged just 19.
“He was a delightful young man, a joy to work with and his passion for vacuum cleaners and general mechanics was infectious.
“His family came to the studio and they were so proud that he’d turned a childhood hobby into a career.
We will miss him and send our condolences to his family.”

The This Morning family were quick to offer their condolences with Holly Willoughby commenting on the post: “Just so unbelievably sad… such a lovely and talented young man… sending my love to his friends and family, this must be such a difficult time”
As did fellow presenter Dermot O’Leary who wrote: “Awful news. What a lovely guy. X”
Craig Doyle also commented: “Ah no, what a lovely young man, this is such tragic news. Rest in Peace Matty”

Fans of the show were also quick to pay their respects to the teenager who appeared on the show to review vacuum cleaners.
One fan wrote: “That’s so sad! I bought my last vacuum cleaner because of his recommendation and slot on This Morning. Condolences to his family and friends x”
Whilst another said: “Rip Matty extremely sad news x” And a third commented: “This is so sad. Loved seeing him on the show. Condolences x”
Whilst a fourth fan wrote: “So shocked and saddened by this news. Loved watching him on This Morning, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. My thoughts are with his family & friends.”
Matty was a politician and campaigner who was a member of the Labour Party in Sefton and Merseyside.
He had recently been elected as a town councillor in Maghull. He also served as a councillor in Lydiate.
Aside from his political career, Matty was also known for his love of vacuums, which started when he got his first toy, Henry Hoover at two years old. Because of his passion for vacuum cleaners, Matty was invited on to This Morning to share his reviews on the best vacuum cleaners.
Tributes also have poured in from the political world, with Labour North West writing on X: “I want to express our deepest condolences at the loss of Cllr Matty Lock. He had his whole life ahead of him, with huge potential, who I know was admired and loved across our party. Our thoughts are with his mum and dad and family at this difficult time.”
And deputy leader of the Labour Party Angela Rayner who also campaigned with Matty, posting: “Incredibly sad news, Matty did so much for his community. My love and prayers are with this family and friends.”
