Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in April 1993, Sofia Carson has appeared in some very notable films and TV shows. Her first role was in 2014’s “Austin & Ally” on the Disney Channel. From there, she went on to portray Evie in the “Descendants” franchise, which focuses on the children of Disney’s favorite villains, (via Celebrity Net Worth).
Other roles have been in “Adventures in Babysitting,” “Famous in Love,” “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists,” “Elena of Avalor,” “Faking It,” A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits,” “Spider-Man,” “Soy Luna,” and “Songbird,” as seen on her IMDb page. The star also sings and was featured on the soundtrack of “Descendants” in 2015, earning her song top spots on the Billboard 200 chart and the US Top Soundtracks chart.
So how did Carson make her way into the spotlight and when did she first know that this is what she wanted for her life? Well, it was no easy feat.
Sofia worked hard, dreamed big, and was cheered on by her family
When Sofia Carson was 18 years old, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she would regularly attend casting calls. Just a year and a half later, she booked the role on “Descendants,” which she says, in part, came about because of support from her family and her lifelong dreams.
“My family is everything. They love me unconditionally. I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for them,” Carson told the Miami Herald. “Anything is possible. You have to dream yourself living it. That’s what I did back when I was a little girl … I dreamed of being famous every single night before I went to bed. And now I’m living it. It’s surreal.”
Indeed, when she was young, Carson would dance in a gown inspired by Belle’s from “Beauty and the Beast” and sing Disney songs, knowing since the age of 3 that she wanted to perform. She mused, “I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else. But music was my first love. I wanted to be a singer, release an album and tour the world.”
