Sylvester Stallone doubles down on 'Rocky' rights demand with another scathing dig at producers, plus more news

Sly Stallone lashes out again at producers over ‘Rocky’ ownership: ‘Welcome to the real ‘Rocky Horror Show’

On Monday, July 18, Sylvester Stallone doubled down on comments he’d shared one day prior about not owning the rights to “Rocky,” the now-legendary story of a fictional Philadelphia boxer named Rocky Balboa. After blasting producer Irwin Winkler on Instagram on Sunday — “I really would really like to have at least a little of what’s left of my rights back,” Sly wrote alongside an image depicting the producer as a snake with a knife for a tongue — he hopped back on the ‘Gram with another dark image. “WELCOME TO THE REAL ROCKY HORROR SHOW!!” he wrote on Monday, sharing an artist rendering of a fanged, bloody take on Irwin (this time, with claws) beside three similarly monstrous male figures and a creepily drawn woman. “We are Very happy Rocky Producer IRWIN AND MARGO , CHARLES and DAVID and THE ENTIRE EXTENDED FAMILY are staying heathy and very bloody well fed off the ITALIAN STALLION , while CONTROLLING All of the ROCKY FILMS FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS !” Sly continued. “Bon appétit! KeepPunching!” The second slide in the post was a photo of the actor’s bloodied face, presumably from one of the “Rocky” films. Sylvester famously wrote and starred in the original “Rocky,” as well as its four sequels. He directed the second, third and fourth films and appeared in 2015’s “Creed” and its sequel. But as he told Variety in 2019, he has “zero ownership of Rocky,” something he said he’s long been “furious” about. Though he now sees the deal as having been unfair, he told Variety that his understanding at the time was that “you don’t ruffle the feathers of the golden goose” in showbiz. According to Deadline and Variety, Sly “was paid approximately $75k (for the screenplay and his acting fees) plus 10 net points which earned him at least $2.5 million for the first film.” In his weekend post, he called the rights matter “a painful subject That eats at my soul , because I wanted to leave something of Rocky for my children.” “Creed III,” the first Rocky film in which Sly doesn’t appear, is due out Nov. 23.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reportedly planning a ‘bigger party’ after Vegas wedding

Jennifer Lopez is now Jennifer Lynn Affleck after she and Ben Affleck snuck off to Las Vegas over the weekend and tied the knot, cementing a plan that’s been in the works for two decades. The singer revealed her name change with the wedding details in her latest On the JLo newsletter (multiple outlets have since confirmed she’s Jennifer Affleck on the marriage certificate). But the Sin City ceremony won’t be the last of Jen and Ben’s wedding festivities, according to People. The couple “plan on having a bigger party so they can celebrate with family and friends,” a source told the outlet this week. “They don’t have a honeymoon planned yet,” the insider added, before noting that according to Jen, “every day with Ben is a honeymoon.” As Jen told fans in her newsletter, she and Ben, along with their children from previous relationships “barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight,” but the venue “graciously stayed open late a few minutes,” so they could do the deed they first planned in the early aughts before rekindling their romance during the pandemic. “When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another,” she wrote. “We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.” Ben first popped the question to Jen when they were dating back in 2002. By early 2004, they’d already called off the wedding and split. The stars reunited in 2021 following Jen’s split from Alex Rodriguez (and Ben’s newfound sobriety). “Ever since they started dating again, Jennifer has truly believed that this is it,” added People’s source. “She is looking forward to growing old with Ben.”

Drake shares Swedish police detainment sheet pic after arrest rumors

Drake may have been detained in Sweden, after all — either that or he’s reaching pretty far back to dis A$AP Rocky’s previous run-in with police in Sweden. Last week, a rep for Drake told The Hollywood Reporter there was no truth to rumors the rapper was apprehended by Swedish police while traveling there. But an Instagram post from Drizzy over the weekend seems to suggest otherwise. Buried in a batch of vacation pics captioned “I wanna see Ibiza Chubbs fam” on Sunday, July 17, was a photo of a print-out titled, “Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained.” It appears to have come courtesy of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Sweden’s National Police Board, listing the rights of those detained in the country, as well as information about what would be next for the detainee, as far as an interrogation and more. The post contained no other indication of Drizzy having landed in hot water, though, and by Monday, he’d shared a photo of himself with friends before a “welcome to Ibiza” sign. It’s worth noting another North American rapper, A$AP Rocky, was arrested for his involvement in the assault of a man in Sweden in July 2019. At the time, Rocky claimed he fought back, as did members of his entourage, after the man picked a fight with the group. Rocky was ultimately fined and imprisoned for his role in the incident. Drake — whose police print-out pic, has no date on it, by the way — unfollowed Rocky and Drake’s ex/Rocky’s current partner, Rihanna, after they announced they were expecting their first child together earlier this year.

Prince Harry recalls realizing Meghan was his ‘soulmate’ in UN speech

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan returned to the United Nations in New York City on Monday, July 18, for Nelson Mandela Day, which featured a speech by the Duke of Sussex before the assembly. In his talk, Harry reflected on how meaningful the continent of Africa has been since he was 13, given his late mother, Princess Diana’s long-running advocacy work in the region. He also recalled realizing Meghan was his “soulmate” when they traveled there together. “For most of my life, it has been my lifeline, a place where I found peace and healing time and time again,” Harry said of the continent. “It’s where I felt closest to my mother and sought solace after she died, and where I knew I had found a soulmate in my wife.” Harry and Meghan have visited Africa multiple times through the years, according to People. Following their engagement, the duke said in an interview that Meghan had joined him in Botswana in 2016, not long after they started dating. Later in his UN speech, Harry referenced a photo from his mother’s 1997 meeting with Nelson Mandela. As the South African president and civil rights leader later told press, he was moved by her work to raise awareness about AIDS and other epidemics in Africa, as well as her push to get minefields in the region cleared. Harry was in turn impressed by Mandela’s ability to “see the goodness in humanity,” despite having experienced firsthand so many “injustices.” Harry said Mandela remained positive “because he knew we could overcome them.”

Tom Brady decries the challenges of raising kids as a multi-millionaire

As Tom Brady heads into another lucrative NFL season, having returned to the Buccaneers despite announcing his retirement in February, he apparently finds his wealth makes it “hard” to raise children. Tom, 44, shares two kids — Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, — with his wife, Giselle Bündchen. He and his ex, Bridget Moynahan, share a son, Jack, 14.But it seems Tom’s estimated $250 million net worth keeps rearing its ugly head in his family’s day-to-day life. “We have people that clean for us. We have people that make our food. We have people that drive us to the airport if we need that,” the quarterback said during a recent appearance on Spotify’s “Drive” podcast, via Page Six. “We get off a plane and there’s people waiting there for us and we get ushered in,” he continued. “That’s my kids’ reality, which is the hard part to say, ‘Guys, this is not the way reality really is. … What can we do about that?'” Perhaps answering his own question, he later acknowledged that he and his supermodel wife, 41, “can try to create experiences that are more along the lines of what most kids go through even though they will still have experiences that a lot of kids never do have.” He added that Gisele “grew up in rural Brazil” in a two bedroom home for a family of seven, while he was raised “in a middle-class family in California.” Though he’s made mistakes as a dad over the past 14 years, Tom said he also knows that’s “the reality of being a parent.”
