Susanna Reid beams alongside her mum in rare snap to mark her 81st birthday

Susanna Reid took to Instagram to celebrate her mum’s birthday and fans were quick to point out just how similar the mother and daughter are.

The Good Morning Britain presenter shared a close-up selfie of the pair both with big smiles and looking strikingly similar.

Susanna captioned the post: “81 years young! Happy Birthday to my amazing mum.” She also added Champagne flute and love heart emojis.

Celeb friends quickly added comments as Julia Bradbury posted: “We love our amazing mums. Happy Birthday.” And Lizzie Cundy added: “Same birthday as my dear mother! A very happy birthday to your gorgeous mum.”

Fans were keen to point out the similarities between mother and daughter. One commented: “That’s you in years to come two peas in a pod…wishing your mummy a wonderful day.” And another shared: “Can see where you get your good looks from Susanna.”

Others complimented her mum on the youthful looks: “Happy birthday to your mum she doesn’t look 81 at all!” and “Surely you mean 61?”

Susanna’s mum, Sue Smith, once joined her on the set of GMB to offer some insight into their relationship. Sue, a former nurse and health visitor, said: “She was lovely until she was 13. She was absolutely wonderful. She was a joy.”

“When she turned 13, overnight she turned absolutely horrible for two years," she continued.

Sue went on: "When she was 15 we sort of said, 'Look hang on a minute either we’re going to get on well and support each other or we’re going to make each other’s lives hell,' and we’ve been best friends ever since. I’m proud of her."

Susanna has previously posted a joint selfie with mum Sue to mark her own 51st birthday back in December 2021.

Susanna had a break from GMB over the Christmas period when it was decided to cancel lives shows due to the pandemic.

There was a pre-recorded Christmas Day special, and GMB came back as a live show on 4 January 2022.
