Stacey Solomon admits blending families with Joe Swash was a rocky road

Stacey Solomon has opened up about her and Joe Swash's blended family, revealing that it has "never been easy".

The Loose Women star, 33, started dating former EastEnders actor Joe, 40, in 2016 and the couple have gone on to welcome two children together – Rex, three, and Rose, one – and earlier this year they tied the knot.

Stacey is also mum to sons Zachary, 14, and Leighton, 10, from previous relationships, while Joe is dad to son Harry, 15, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Emma Sophocleous.

Speaking with comedians Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe on their podcast, the mum-of-four admitted that her and Joe's blended family has been a "rocky road".

"The blended family situation has been a rocky road. That has never been easy," Stacey admitted. "We have always had to work really hard to make sure everyone feels secure."

The TV favourite then revealed how her and Joe's sons made speeches on their wedding day, which has reassured her that they all feel happy with their blended family.

Explaining how their words reduced her and Joe to tears, Stacey explained: "It was so funny we didn’t say to the boys you need to do a speech.

"Joe was an emotional mess the whole day. People coming up to me saying 'Joe is a mess down there'."

Harry, Leighton, Zachary and Rex were all best men at the pair's nuptials, while baby Rose was a flower girl.

The boys' involvement in the big day meant a lot to Stacey, as they opened up about they were feeling which was "really emotional".

"They never say anything! Especially teenage boys. They don’t ever tell you how they feel or what they think about anything so it was really emotional to hear what they have to say," she said during the recent interview.

The 33 year old also credited her new husband for helping their children to be so open with their emotions. Stacey explained how Joe has also been willing to discuss his late father honestly with their children which has helped.

Stacey's latest interview comes after she recently shared an adorable clip of one year old Rose taking her first steps.

She shared the heartwarming moment that Joe saw their daughter Rose walk unaided for the very first time, after he returned home from filming a new show.
