Phillip Schofield and Stephanie Lowe were married for 26 years when the This Morning host opened up about his sexuality in February last year. However, the couple have remained close as they held hands while exiting Langan’s Brasserie, where many celebrities gathered to congratulate interior designer Kelly Hoppen on her CBE last night.

The This Morning star looked stylish in a black roll-neck beneath a grey blazer and matching black trousers.

While Stephanie, 57, opted for a teal blouse with black trousers and wrapped up warm in a black coat.

It’s not the former couple’s only night out together this month, as earlier in November, Phillip took Stephanie out to watch the one-off concert, An Audience with Adele.

Phillip and Stephanie, who share daughters Molly and Ruby, have remained close friends, despite their split and now living separately.

At the time of the announcement, the star revealed it was a huge relief to come out as gay.

“It’s funny because everyone I’ve spoken to, and you, have all been so supportive and so loving and caring, and my entire family to a person have grabbed us and said, ‘it’s ok it’s ok, we love you we’re proud of you…'” he said to Holly Willoughby last year.

He also applauded his wife and said she had been “incredible” in her support, despite acknowledging “the hurt that I am causing to my family”.

The presenter said: “This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.

“My family have held me so close: they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion.”

The This Morning host told his wife’s parents just before Christmas 2019 that he was gay, as he cleaned the kitchen in preparation for a family meal.

Phillip revealed on Chris Evans’ How To Wow podcast: “But just before Christmas, well during Christmas, I was cleaning – I clean when I’m stressed, I tidy up – so I was cleaning a surface at Christmas, wiping it down and Jill, my wonderful mother-in-law, said, ‘You are the perfect man, you know’.

“And I just said, ‘No Jill, no I’m not’, but it was the sweetest thing to say. So yeah, big support from them.”

Chris then read out a text message Phillip had received from his father-in-law John, which said: “I may be your pa-in-law but think of me as your surrogate pa, and long may it continue… As long as Steph’s OK we don’t have a problem.”

Revealing Phillip’s response to the message, Chris added: “Then you text him back, ‘Thank you so much, Captain, I’m so very deeply sorry to disappoint you.'”

To which John replied: “Nothing to be sorry for here son so cheer up!”

Reacting to the messages, Phillip told Chris: “I couldn’t have wanted anything else really.”

The ITV star also said that he and Stephanie have not discussed getting a divorce. “I’m still married to Steph.

“There is a great deal of talk of divorce – we have not discussed that at all.”

“With divorce… that has not been discussed. We are picking our way through – it’s a work in progress.

“I am a work in progress. Steph is a work in progress,” he added.
