Friends star Maggie Wheeler has paid tribute to on-screen boyfriend Matthew Perry after the actor was found dead in his Los Angeles home.
Wheeler, 62, played Chandler Bing’s on-off girlfriend Janice, appearing in 19 episodes of the popular sitcom. Now, taking to Instagram, she has paid tribute to 54-year-old Perry.
In a touching post, she said: “What a loss. The world will miss you Mathew Perry.
“The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”
Alongside the post she shared a picture of the pair playing Janice and Chandler.

The official Friends social media accounts also paid tribute to Perry. It wrote: “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”
NBC Entertainment said: “We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry. He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”
The actor was found drowned at his Los Angeles home, reports both the Los Angeles Times and celebrity news site TMZ. A Los Angeles police officer subsequently told the Associated Press they had been called to the actor’s home address for “a death investigation of a male in his 50s”.

During his time on the show, Perry struggled with addiction and anxiety which he described in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing which was published in 2022.
“I loved everything about the show but I was struggling with my addictions which only added to my sense of shame,” he wrote. “If I didn’t get the laugh I was supposed to get I would freak out.
“I felt that every single night. This pressure left me in a bad place. I also knew of the six people making that show, only one of them was sick.”
