Les Dennis, 68, has opened up about his health fears, after admitting he managed to avoid catching Covid. Speaking to Express.co.uk last year, the comedian and actor shared how he navigated the virus while working in theatre.

Les is currently starring in a nationwide tour of Fat Friends The Musical, alongside stars like Sherrie Dawson and Lee Mead.

This is based on the ITV show of the same name created by Kay Mellor.

The tour is the latest of Les’ projects after he starred on stage in Hairspray and in an opera at the end of 2021.

The former host Family Fortunes has opened up about working quite steadily through the pandemic.

He also addressed his own fears of catching Covid in a candid chat at the end of last year.

Asked about how he found working in theatre during the pandemic, Les said: “I’ve been very lucky, I haven’t had Covid.

“I’ve been in shows where people around me, even in the opera we had a couple of cast members that went down with it towards the end.

“I seem to have managed, touch wood, to miss it so far.”

He went on to add how he hopes people will feel safe in the theatre

“But, you know, we’ll just hope that people feel safe enough.”

At the time, Les also admitted he had not yet had his Covid booster as he’d been on stage.

The star explained how he had put it off as he didn’t want a reaction.

Speaking in December, he added: “I’m double jabbed, I haven’t had my booster yet because I was on stage in the show.

“I didn’t want to get a reaction and not have to be able to finish the run at the ENO.

“So I’m looking to that now and I will definitely get my booster before Christmas.”

Les has also previously opened up about his health concerns.

Talking on ITV’s Lorraine back in 2018, he explained how he found out he was pre-diabetic.

Les said: “Last year during the Addams Family tour, I got bronchitis and laryngitis. As a result, I got a blood test done and found out I was pre-diabetic.

“I then did the Sports Relief fitness programme and dropped the weight. I lost 20 pounds.”
