To mark World Mental Health day yesterday, Laura Hamilton shared a quote which read, ‘Everyone falls but we can help each other up’. The 37-year-old said her cryptic post sparked concerns from many of her fans who messaged her to see if she was OK.

Today, the A Place In The Sun presenter urged people to be kind as she revealed there had been cr*p going on in her life.

In view of her 137,000 followers, she said on her Story: “I just wanted to come on here and post this story this morning because I had a few people contact me yesterday saying, ‘Laura is everything OK?’

“It was World Mental Health day yesterday and like lots of us on social media, I choose to post a lot of the glamorous things in my life.

“Whether I’m travelling abroad to sunny destinations or I’m glammed up for an event, obviously on my social media, I post that.”

The mother-of-two went on to say: “I don’t often post when there’s cr*p going on in my life or I’m busy running a business.

“[Or] I’m running around after children, which I was doing a lot this weekend, but that isn’t to say that there isn’t stuff going on in my life.

“Sometimes I choose not to talk about it to protect the people around me and out of respect.”

In a caption on her post, she added: “Behind the smile there can be cr*p too, so be kind.”

Appearing make-up free, Laura said she had some self care this morning, including a massage.

Laura spoke from her home, where she lives with her husband Alex Goward and their two children; Rocco and Tahlia.

The presenter regularly gives fans an insight into her life on her social media page.

Last month, she showed fans a different side to her by revealing the extent of her health issue Immune thrombocytopenia.

Laura shared a close-up picture of her bruised arms and revealed her gums had also been bleeding during filming.

Both are symptoms of the disorder Immune thrombocytopenia, an autoimmune bleeding disorder characterised by abnormally low levels of blood cells called platelets, which is referred to as thrombocytopenia.

She wrote on her page: “This week I might have posted a few photos in pretty dresses, but this is the reality of what is underneath and what you can’t see…

“I have had bruising on my arms and my gums have been bleeding. This is ITP.

“Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding.

“The bleeding results from unusually low levels of platelets — the cells that help blood clot.”

She went on to urge fellow sufferers to not let the condition get in the way of their dreams.

A Place In The Sun continues today at 3pm on Channel 4.
