After returning to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom on Saturday night for the big final, Kym Marsh is now looking forward to spending Christmas with her husband Scott, 33, and her children.
In a new interview, the former Coronation Street actress revealed that the gruelling Strictly training sessions had taken her toll on her body, so much so that she fractured a rib.
She told Hello! that she had been juggling “a lot on [her] plate” due to her busy schedule balancing commitments such as Strictly and presenting BBC’s Morning Live.
Kym said: “I’d also had a fractured rib from dancing for the last eight weeks, which nobody knew about.
“I’d been having physio and dealing with that, which has been quite tricky.”
The Hear’Say bandmember also told the publication that she had suffered a panic attack during the show.
She explained that “the tiredness and stress had set in and I was working a lot away from home, and everything piled on top of me”.
Nevertheless, she said she was able to “pull herself together” in time for her live performance.
Kym and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima made it to Week 11 of the competition, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-final.
She had previously had to miss one week of the competition after testing positive for Covid.
On Saturday night, wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin lifted the coveted Glitterball Trophy alongside his professional partner Jowita Przystal.
The couple competed against Helen Skelton, Fleur East and Molly Rainford in the grand final.
Each couple had to perform three dances and the public ultimately crowned Hamza and Jowita the winners of the 2022 series.
