Journey guitarist Neal Schon has shared his recollections about his time working with the legendary Carlos Santana.
During an interview by guitarist Joe Bonamassa for his ongoing YouTube series, “Live From Nerdville,” Schon was asked about his experience working with Santana.
“It was such an experience to go to all those different countries. I was still in high school and I’m in Ghana, Africa… I’m everywhere,”
Schon replied. “It was quite an experience. I’m lucky to be alive.
Those were times I’ll never forget.”
“Carlos and I remain best friends,” he added. “He’s been talking to me about doing a record with him right now. I think we’re going to have a little more time on our hands here at home.”
Before co-founding Journey, Schon had worked with Santana. He joined the band at age 17, performing on the albums Santana III and Caravanserai. In 1973 Schon co-founded Journey with fellow Santana alum Gregg Rolie.
