Joan Collins, 90, praises ‘amazing’ Angela Rippon, 78, for her Strictly split but admits she has turned the BBC show down ‘several times’
Joan Collins has revealed she is a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing but has turned the show down ‘several times’.
The Dynasty star, 90, has been tuning into this year’s series and heaped praise on Angela Rippon for her age-defying split on last week’s live show.
Angela, 78, is the oldest contestant in the show’s history and got the nation talking when she kicked her leg in the air while dancing with Kai Widdrington.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s House, Joan confirmed she had been watching, saying: ‘I did see it. I am a huge fan of Strictly and I thought it was amazing.’
However, when asked if she would ever follow in Angela’s footsteps, she replied: ‘Are you kidding? No way! I’ve been asked to do it several times.’

Joan has previously confirmed she is just as flexible as Angela, proclaiming: ‘I do the splits very easily.’
Angela looked sensational in silver fringe mini dress as she performed to Shirley Bassey’s cover of Pink’s Get The Party Started before Kai lifted her leg for the dramatic finale.
The duo impressed the judges who scored 28 for their performance, which saw them briefly at the top of the leader board.
It comes after Angela admitted she is finding Strictly training ‘very gruelling’ and her legs ‘feel like they’re going to collapse’.
Speaking in a new interview, Angela shed some light on how her training with professional partner Kai is going.
She told The Mirror: ‘My legs feel like they’re about to collapse.
‘I know what I should be doing, I know how it should be feeling, it’s actually making my legs do it to the music. I’m just getting cross and frustrated.’
Angela continued: ‘I’m exhausted. There are bits of me aching that I didn’t know I had. I’m enjoying doing it and I’m fine with the bits that I get right. But I get very angry with myself when I absolutely muck it up and do it wrong.’

Angela previously told MailOnline: ‘I’ve kept fit all my life, for the job that I do. You have to keep fit to do what we do because you never know what you’ll be asked to do next. A lot of things that I’ve done in television have been more physical.
‘You know, maybe you thought twice about diving with great white sharks or swimming with killer whales, so you never know what you’re gonna be asked to do.
‘I’ve done programmes where I’ve been on my feet for 12 hours. And you can’t do that unless you’re fit. I just kept fit and strong I suppose.’
