Strictly Come Dancing stars AJ Odudu,33, and Kai Widdrington, 26, have been at the centre of romance rumours in recent weeks after striking up a close bond during their time on the show. In a new interview, the presenter said their final dance in the competition won’t be the last they see of each other as she discussed their partnership and future.

AJ described the professional dancer as “funny, kind” and “patient” and said she feels a part of his family.

“He’s going to be in my life forever,” she told The Sun.

“We just have the best time. He’s a family man, he’s someone who takes care of his family, his friends.

“He’s a real gentleman. He really, really is.”

She went on to say the pair also “share the same ethics” when it comes to family.

AJ also praised Kai for boosting her confidence on the dance floor after joining with no experience.

The dancing duo have since gone on to become one of the favourite pairings and are still in the running for the Glitterball trophy.

Hard to please judge Craig Revel Horwood has also praised AJ’s talents in recent weeks.

The dancing duo first sparked rumours they could be more than friends when he was heard telling AJ he loved her following their emotional American Smooth to I Have Nothing from The Bodyguard.

When asked about the comment on Strictly It Takes Two, Kai laughed and said: “I think that was all down to just the tough, tough week that we had.

“The fact that we got to the end of the performance and it was flawless and you smashed it and you did all the lifts brilliant, did all the technique perfect.

We were both just relieved, you were just gripping onto my neck.”

AJ has said the pair were just acting at the time, but has refused to confirm or deny romance rumours.

On Twitter last month, she seemingly went back on her word in response to a fan.

Following their intimate couples’ choice, Fifer wrote: “@AJOdudu is it unhealthy that I’m so happy you liked my comments!?!?!!

“You & Kai have lifted my depression – something lovely to focus on. Even if you’re just acting it’s wonderful.”

AJ replied: “We love your kind words! No acting there.”

The fan added: “Lifts my heart then. Beautiful to see you together.

“Thank you for taking time to reply. Means a lot x.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.05pm on BBC One.
