Family of the late actor reveals that the Toronto-born star passed away last Friday in a hospital in Etobicoke, Ontario due to injuries sustained in the accident.
AceShowbiz –Robert Cormier‘s family has shed some light on his sudden and shocking passing. One day after confirming the sad news, his sister Stephanie revealed that the actor died of injuries sustained in a “tragic” fall.
“Robbie passed away as the result of a tragic accident,” the family said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. The bartender-turned-actor, who is best known for his role as Finn Cotter on “Heartland“, was pronounced dead at a hospital in Etobicoke, Ontario on Friday, September 23, according to his family.
“Our family would like to thank everyone at the Critical Care team in Toronto for the compassionate care they provided Robbie and the kindness they showed our family,” the family added in the statement. “We will be forever grateful.”
“Robbie was loved by many and his unexpected death has left us devastated,” the family said in a statement to PEOPLE. “While we are broken-hearted, we take comfort in the overwhelming love and support shown to our family by Robbie’s friends, colleagues and fans.”
Previously, the family announced Robert’s passing at age 33 as they released an obituary which read, “Robert was an athlete, an actor and a great brother. He had a passion for helping others and was always looking to achieve more. He enjoyed movie nights with his family, and looked up greatly to his father. He impacted many people throughout his life whether it was family, teammates and friends. Rob’s memory will live on through his passion for art and film; as well as his three sisters who meant the world to him.”
UPtv, which airs “Heartland”, paid tribute to Robert with an Instagram post on Tuesday that said, “Robert Cormier, aka Heartland’s Finn, was an amazing talent, gone too soon. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Our sincere condolences go out to his friends, family, and co-workers.”
“Heartland” official Instagram said, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert Cormier. He was a beloved member of the ‘Heartland’ cast the last two seasons. On behalf of the ‘Heartland’ cast and crew, our thoughts are with him and his family, who have asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Robert started on “Heartland” in the show’s fifteenth season and scenes he had already filmed are set to be included in series 16, which starts October 2. Robert is also famed for playing Kit Jenning on Netflix’s series “Slasher” and had guest appearances on “Designated Survivor“, “Ransom” and “American Gods“.
