A hungry penguin mistook Good Morning Britain's Laura Tobin for a breakfast treat on Thursday as it bit her during a live weather report.

The ITV weather forecaster was making her predictions for the day ahead when she suffered a nasty bite live on-air and shouted out in pain as she battled to keep her cool.

Laura, 39, was reporting from Chessington World of Adventures Resort on Thursday morning and was dressed for the hot weather in a short playsuit.

But unfortunately, as she read the weather from the penguin pool at feeding time, her outfit meant that her legs were exposed and the penguins gathering around her tried to take a bite out of her skin.

Viewers heard Laura say: "If we look at the seven day outlook, temperatures remain way, way above average.

"These high temperatures into the high 30s, but tail off into the low 20s as we head through the weekend and next week.

"The percentage chance of rainfall over the next few days is low, but from Saturday onwards it is high…"

At that point, she was forced to break off her report as she shouted out in pain: "Owww I haven't got any food. The penguins must think I am the food… I'm not a fish!"

Laura also met giraffes and rode a rollercoaster in her report from Chessington, but luckily the penguins were the only on-air mishap.

Last month, Laura was battling a different kind of weather issue when heavy rain caused her live outdoor report to fail and Charlotte Hawkins had to step in from the studio to read the forecast for her instead.

As she tried to give her forecast from Hever Castle in Kent, the screen went blank leaving Laura in the downpour with no connection to the studio.

The weather forecaster isn't the only one of ITV's daytime stars to suffer an embarrassing live accident recently – This Morning's Josie Gibson tumbled into a lake while announcing a competition.

Josie, dressed in a wetsuit, was taking on an inflatable floating assault course while explaining the terms of the competition, but ended up underwater and had to be hauled out in a red-faced Bridget Jones-style moment.
