Reality star Ferne McCann wowed us all with her unfiltered journey through single motherhood in ITVBe’s First Time Mum . The 31-year-old is now back for a seventh season of the show.

As well as zooming in on her parenting journey with three year old daughter Sunday, the eight-episode run promises to provide an in-depth look at her high-profile split from marketing manager boyfriend Jack Padgett.

When we caught up with Ferne, she described the break-up as "mature" and "grown-up." She added: "No one did anything wrong. I’ve learnt so much from this relationship and from Jack, and we had some beautiful times."

Ferne and Jack split at the start of summer. A source told The Sun that Ferne felt it was "a case of 'right guy wrong time.'"

The source went on to explain that the pair were at different stages in their lives. Jack's job meant that his life revolved around "hosting events and nightlife," whereas Ferne's mind is set firmly on "family, work and security."

With the break-up a couple of months behind her, we asked Ferne if she was looking for love again, but it seems the big-hearted mum is staying fully focussed on herself and Sunday.

"I’m not fixating too much on it. I’m not back on the dating scene. If somebody comes along, great, but if not, I’m happy being just me at the moment," she told us.

It's fair to say the former TOWIE star hasn't had the easiest 12 months. Between her split with Jack and catching Covid-19 last year, it's been a rough ride for her.

"I completely lost my sense of taste and smell. I didn’t feel poorly but I rested a lot at home. Afterwards I was very fatigued. It knocked me for six. It took months for my senses to return. Losing my sense of taste was terrible," Ferne explained.

She added: "It made me realise your health is everything."

To mark the launch of the latest series of First Time Mum, Ferne and Sunday appeared on Tuesday's episode of This Morning.

Sunday caused a stir in the studio by running up and down the famous sofa as Ferne attempted to keep her in check. Ruth Langsford comforted Ferne by telling her not to worry and assuring her that her son Jack had also been badly behaved while on television.

As always, the upcoming series looks at the peaks and troughs of Ferne's journey through single motherhood, including how she deals with Sunday's tantrums.
