Elliot Page thanks fans for 'love and support' after coming out as trans

Elliot Page has thanked fans for their support after coming out as trans.

The Umbrella Academy star posted a new selfie on Instagram and urged people to ‘be there for each other’.

The Netflix star also shared links to Transanta, which delivers gifts to trans youth in need, and Trans Lifeline, a crisis hotline for trans people.

In the snap the actor wore silver rimmed glasses and a black hoodie pulled up over his head, adding that he would be back on our screens in the New Year.

He wrote the message: ‘From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your love and support has been the greatest gift.

‘Stay safe. Be there for each other. If you are able, support @transanta and @translifeline. See you in 2021.’

In a heartfelt statement at the start of December, Elliot revealed he had changed his name and said: ‘I love that I am queer’.

Elliot went on: ‘And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.

‘To all trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.’

Elliot previously came out as gay in 2014.

Netflix is reportedly in the process of changing Elliot’s name in the credits of projects he is involved in.

The streaming service has already updated their credits for My Days Of Mercy, Tales Of The City, Flatliners, Inception and The Umbrella Academy.
