Eamonn Holmes, 61, has been keeping This Morning viewers and his one million followers on Twitter updated about his health battle. The presenter has been opening up about dealing with chronic pain over the last few weeks and has revealed how it has been impacting his sleep pattern.

Eamonn was suffering from insomnia overnight as he took to Twitter to share his pain with his followers.

Posting in the early hours of the morning, he described how he was unable to sleep as he tried to avoid taking pain medication.

The This Morning presenter wrote: “Come on Eamonn, let’s give this sleep a serious Go …..

“Surely I can do this? No medication during a working week but roll on Friday night.

“May you find an escape in sleep tonight. #ChronicPain

“Deep breath ….and relax. Goodnight Tweeters and thanks for being there.”

Eamonn first updated fans about his health battle last week before he went to hospital to attempt to work out what was wrong.

Speaking on This Morning alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, he said he’d had an MRI but not a diagnosis yet.

His followers were quick to offer their support when he posted the overnight update to his page.

One wrote: “Fingers crossed for you Eamonn that you’ll get a good amount of sleep.

“Pity you can’t take meds but understandable reason why.

“At least it’s only one more, er, sleep, till Friday and then…”

“Joints are agony and back is incredibly painful. Husband has work tomorrow so don’t want to keep him awake.

“Thank goodness for recording plenty on the tv. Hope you get some sleep.”

“I’m thinking sleep doesn’t like me…. or a lot of us pain sufferers….currently half sat listening to the dog and my mum snoring Sleeping symbol. Good luck x,” a third penned to the star.

Yesterday he gave another update on his Twitter page as he thanked fans for their good wishes over the news he is to become a grandfather.

He wrote: “I have been very bad at answering and acknowledging so many ‘Grandpa’ good wishes today.

“Please forgive and understand how draining and debilitating this Back pain I’m suffering is.

“I’m drained. Had steroid injections today which will Hopefully turn the tide. #ChronicPain.”
