The story follows a group of five men who set out to find a mythical island called El Dorado. While the island itself was never found, they believe that there is a fortune there and if they can get a small boat down into the jungles to recover the treasure. One problem: the treasure is said to be in the hands of two different gangs. The other is headed by a war-chief, a war-leader who is in charge of a large tribe, or tribes, of men that are united only by fighting. The book is written in a way that makes the reader think one way, or another You either think that theyll save the men that are in the first gang, and take the treasure, because theyll get rid of them, or you dont because you think its the best way to go. The author doesnt make that hard to decide on for you, and does a good job of making you think about it Your other problem is that youll think one thing and then get a different thing. For example, you might think that the pirate and the criminal are on the same side, but then youll have a different idea. For another example, you might think that the war-chief is on their side, but then someone will have a different idea. I have to say that I didnt have the same problem with the Captain Vorpatril series, where the same problems exist but the two books that I had read before this book had different ideas.
