Here’s when Adele’s Las Vegas residency will have to move forward, if it will happen at all
Can Adele’s Caesars Palace residency overcome the conflicts that got it canceled — or is that it for the singer’s big comeback tenure on the Strip? That question will need to be answered within the month, according to TMZ. Insiders told the outlet this week that in the wake of the singer’s decision to nix her planned three-month stint at the Sin City venue, Caesars and promoter Live Nation are somewhat desperate to make a deal with Adele that will allow the residency to be rescheduled. The outlet’s sources cited a variety of reasons Adele pulled the plug on the concerts, from her alleged concerns about the sound system being outdated to issues with the set design, which was reportedly supposed to include a “special effects pool” over which the star would appear during the performance. Multiple outlets have reported the pool was not up to par for Adele, which could be related to the COVID-19-related “delivery” issues she’s said contributed to the cancelation. The show “just ain’t ready,” she told fans through tears in a recent announcement. TMZ reports Caesars and Live Nation are hoping to iron things out in time that some mid-2022 dates could work, but fans on social media have posited that the concert space already has such a full schedule it seems like 2023 would be a better bet.

Nicole Kidman calls Keith Urban ‘the best thing that’s ever happened to me’
When Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban celebrated 15 years of marriage last June, Keith marked the milestone on Instagram in a decidedly more G-rated way than Nicole, who shared a close-up of the country star licking her neck. “Keith’s [photo] was us in our pajamas. Mine was a little more …,” she told Gayle King on “CBS Mornings” this week with a laugh. “What does that say about us?!” she asked. Answering her own question, the “Being the Ricardos” star explained. “We’re a mix. We’re very suited [for one another]. I’m incredibly lucky to have met him.” The couple, both of whom hail from Australia, first met at an event in 2005. Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres in 2017, Nicole recalled Keith was slow to call her despite her big “crush” on the country star. Once he did, it seems all bets were off. They were married by June 2006 and even Keith’s rehab stint that fall — following an intervention Nicole reportedly organized — didn’t get in the way of their romance, though it came close. “I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage. It survived, but it’s a miracle it did,” Keith admitted in a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, adding that he felt “spiritually awoken with” the Oscar winner. On CBS this week, Nicole made it clear their early challenges were worth it. “I met him later in life and it’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” she said of the Grammy winner. “That man is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Alicia Silverstone claps back at body-shamer who called her ‘fat’
“A-B-C-D-E … F-U.” Alicia Silverstone let the chorus of alt-pop singer Gayle’s massive hit do the talking this week after a body-shamer put her down her down on social media. The “Clueless” star was reacting to a note on a photo that showed her looking lovely in a blue dress while walking through the grass. “Alicia Silverstone Candid Fat Photo,” someone had written on the pic. The actress responded by putting her serious clap back skills on display. Posting the photo on TikTok while Gayle croons the song’s telling hook, Alicia pops into the screen to respond with a wordless commentary involving a certain finger just as Gayle gets to the “F” in “F-U.” “D***. I think I look good,” she wrote in the caption. The post earned plenty of love and support from fans, who chimed in with comments like, “A queen that knows her worth ?? you’re amazing alicia!” and “If that’s what they call fat, I’m in! Lol you look great!” Alicia, 45, has spoken out about body shamers in the past, both on social media and in interviews. Recalling how people “[made] fun of her body” endlessly, whether or not she was in the public eye earlier in her career, the star told the Guardian in 2020, “It was hurtful but I knew they were wrong. I wasn’t confused. I knew that it was not right to make fun of someone’s body shape, that doesn’t seem like the right thing to be doing to a human.”
Cynthia Nixon defends handling of Samantha’s absence on ‘And Just Like That’
With the “And Just Like That” finale around the corner, Cynthia Nixon played some defense this week for her character, Miranda, and the way the “Sex And the City” reboot has handled Samantha’s absence, among other things. “I thought it was great,” Cynthia told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” on Jan. 27. “I have to say, I love how we addressed it head-on in the first minute.” It’s no secret Kim Cattrall, who played the fourth pal in the original series, declined to return for the new HBO Max show. The years-long, behind-the-scenes rift between Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie, has been no secret to fans either, which may have paved the way for the mixed reactions to Samantha being written off the show, but not out of the storyline. (She’s moved to London, we learn in the first episode, after a fight with Carrie, but she’s referenced pretty regularly.) “I loved how there began to be layers of it. Like, there’s the thing you tell Bitsy von Muffling, and then there’s the way you talk about it amongst each other,” Cynthia said of a scene where a more peripheral friend asks the group where Samantha is. Cynthia added — and heads up on the spoiler ahead — that the detail where Samantha sends flowers to Carrie for Big’s funeral was a poignant touch. “I love how we keep checking in with her from time to time. I love that,” she concluded. Kim, for her part, liked a tweet back in December that suggested she wasn’t into the Samantha references in the script. The post was directed at Kim and noted that in the reboot, “they keep bringing you up.” The person added, “I applaud you for making choices that are right for you. You are not required to do anything you don’t want to do or that won’t make you happy.”
Britney Spears’ dad wants her deposed after he dodged depositions himself
Britney Spears’ father is finally acknowledging demands he be deposed in the ongoing investigation into whether he mishandled his daughter’s estate while acting as her conservator. But he wants a quid pro quo. According to an email excerpted by TMZ on Jan. 28, Jamie Spears’ lawyer, Alex Weingarten, emailed Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, earlier this week to say Jamie would sit for the deposition he’s been asked for repeatedly if Britney promises to sit for one, as well. Sources tell the outlet Jamie’s team wants to speak to the singer on-record about “child safety and [possible] drug use,” while Britney’s attorney has asked for months to question Jamie on his alleged use of the conservatorship he placed his daughter under for “personal gain.” Insiders tell TMZ Brit’s lawyer is likely to also raise the claims Britney made last year about her father’s control over her life during the 13-year legal arrangement. In court, she accused him of keeping her on psychiatric meds against her will and refusing to allow her to remove an IUD should she want to have another child. Jamie was suspended as Britney’s conservator last year, months before the conservatorship was terminated. The depositions could reportedly take place as soon as early March.
