Strictly: Angela Rippon does splits in the air during dance
Angela Rippon has been enjoying herself behind the scenes of Strictly Come Dancing despite previously admitting she was “shattered”.
This weekend, Angela, 78, and professional partner Kai Widdrington, 28, will take to the BBC ballroom once again to perform a Foxtrot set to You Make Me Feel So Young by Frank Sinatra.
However, in the lead-up to the second live show, the iconic newsreader admitted that she was struggling with the “physical contortions” Kai had choreographed.
In a video posted to Instagram, Angela said: “Shattered. I ache, everywhere. This is a beautiful dance when it’s done properly, but you wouldn’t believe the physical contortions you have to do!”
Despite being knackered from intensive training, the Strictly star was all smiles as she met up with her fellow contestants to prepare for Saturday’s live show.

Taking to Instagram, the Rip-Off Britain presenter shared a series of selfies with her 12,300 followers.
In pictures, the 78-year-old was beaming alongside the likes of Layton Williams, Adam Thomas and Annabel Croft.
To accompany the carousel of images, she wrote in the caption: “It’s dress rehearsal day for Week Two of @bbcstrictly.
“Nothing but smiles all round. Here’s a few behind-the-scenes snaps of our Strictly family. A fantastic day. See you all tomorrow for our foxtrot…”
Since posting the behind-the-scenes images to social media, fans have come out in their droves to wish Angela good luck.

The journalist’s Cha Cha Cha to ‘Get the Party Started’ by Shirley Bassey saw her being hailed as a ‘sex symbol’.
Regarding the feedback, Angela exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Sex symbol? It’s a huge compliment, but a big surprise. I am enormously flattered, I mean, who wouldn’t be?”
“I am reasonably fit for my age – and very flexible. That helps,” she continued.
Strictly returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6:20pm.
