Scarlette Douglas is best known for her hosting duties on A Place in the Sun, where she helps couples find their dream homes abroad. Speaking to Express.co.uk, the 32-year-old opened up about unexpected moments which have happened on set. The property expert revealed that while she has luckily not had an awkward time during filming, some of her co-stars had.

She explained that her fellow hosts have had to deal with house hunters arguing during filming.

She spilled: “I know some of the presenters have had it when people are just not happy or they end up having an argument with each other, the couple, and then there’s a bit of a falling out there.

“And you’re like, ‘Oh this is awkward’.

“But luckily for me that’s ever happened, I don’t know what I’d do.”

Scarlette has however witnessed the show’s director fall over during filming, which she says has been one of her “funniest moments” on the show.

She revealed: “We decided we were going to film an opening chat at the area, which from far away, looked like a beach.

“When we got there, it was lots of dry seaweed.

“We didn’t realise it was quicksand and he went to set up the camera and before you know it, he was screaming.

“He had sunk in, up to his torso!

“He was holding the camera up and we were like, ‘Oh My God!’ I started laughing, I got my phone out to film it.

“That was one of the funniest moments on the show.”

Scarlette presents the show alongside a host of other property experts including Jasmine Harman, Laura Hamilton and new recruit Lee Juggurnauth.

Away from the show, Scarlette and her brother Stuart Douglas will be stepping into Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer’s shoes for a special episode of Love it or List it.

The pair will host the Channel 4 show as part of the broadcaster’s Black to Front day, a diversity project which will air on September 10.

The siblings will be going against each other to put their skills to the test in the special episode.

Scarlette and Stuart will be helping homeowners decide whether it’s time to renovate their properties or sell up.

She said of her involvement: “It’s really exciting, I love the show anyway and watch it all the time.

“So, to be able to front it with my brother, it is just brilliant!

“I think it’s important that it’s not just for black people to be shown but for people of all races and all cultures.

“That’s what makes up Great Britain and I think Britain is great for that because it has such a collective mix of people and cultures.”

A Place In The Sun continues today at 4pm on Channel 4.
